Things to Know Before You Drip Wax

We would like to remind you that any activity involving a flame or hot wax is dangerous in itself. We would recommend learning how to treat burns and blisters before using anything hot.

Here is a great resource to look over before beginning. We recommend having a stocked first aid kit available when participating in any kink activity.

Various factors can change how sensitive your skin can be and how it will react to something hot. Things like wearing lotion, taking certain medications, allergies etc will impact how your skin reacts. We recommend doing a small skin test before using the candles. Drip some wax onto your leg or arm and let it sit for up to 30 minutes or however long it will be sitting on your skin when using the candles later. If you have a reaction more than just a normal red mark from your skin heating a little, the candles may not react well with your skin later.

We recommend dripping the candle 24 inches away from the skin. You can bring the candle closer to get hotter or further away if it is too hot.

Trimming the wick shorter will shorten the length of the flame and will help the wax not heat up as much.

Holding the candle parallel to the floor will keep the flame from getting as close to the wax and will keep the wax from super heating.

When playing with the pour pots, we recommend lighting the candle before wanting to use it to let the wax pool, then blowing out the flame and letting the wax cool a little before pouring.

Our candles are meant to be skin safe but still have a sting. Unfortunately, nothing that is lit on fire can be 100% safe and injury can occur with any wax play candles. If you feel these candles might be too hot to start with we completely understand. A great way to get started in wax play is by looking for products that are massage candles. These are much cooler and designed to be poured on someone and massaged into their skin.
